Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport or Varadero Airport is the closest airport to the town of Varadero in Cuba. It is a middle sized airport with a single terminal. The available facilities are not so many but enough to aid you to be comfortable as you wait for that flight.

- The airport has Forex Bureaus where you can change your currency to the local currency in order to ease your transactions while within the country. On your way out of the country, these facilities also come in handy to ensure wherever you are going to, you arrive with the correct currency.

- At the departures, there is a duty free shop offering a variety of souvenirs just in case you forgot to pick up something for the loved ones back home. The variety is quite limited though and one is advised to obtain items while out in the peninsula enjoying their holiday. What would a trip to Cuba be without the cigars? Cigars are also available at the duty free shop at a very affordable price. These can be ideal gifts to offer your friends back home.

- One can get something at the airport to munch on during the day. When it gets to evening the vendors close shop. There are some snacks available at the kiosks to hold the hunger at bay.

Unfortunately, there is a lack of such facilities as baby changing sections and luggage lockers. This is compensated for by the friendly reception that the airport staff offers to the passengers. The airport staff is more than willing to come to any passenger’s aid whenever needed.

Varadero Airport is a medium sized airport with not much passenger traffic. It is run by the Cuban government. It acts as a gateway to several fabulous beaches and resorts within the peninsula. Varadero has so much to offer you will be spoilt for choice. There is such a large variety of holiday spots to choose from.
